New Shoe Tuesday

This morning I went for my last run in my favorite pair of running shoes. I got these shoes last October, 2 days before the International Long Beach Marathon/Half Marathon and 5K when I went to the expo for the race. They had once worn shoes for $50 and I thought, what the heck, why not?! The shoes were in perfect condition and looked like they had never been worn. I only ran in them twice before my 5K that weekend, and that wound up being my fastest 5K to date. I wound up getting 3rd place in my age group that day. My first time placing in a race!

Today, I retired these shoes as they had well over 600 miles on them, which is way past due by any standards but I loved them so much I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of them.

But what made retiring them easier, was knowing that today a new pair of shoes would arrive. They are the same shoes, just a different color scheme.

They feel almost exactly the same. I can’t wait to give them a go tomorrow morning.

Am I the only one who gets this deeply attached to my shoes?
